Day 16 is about two things, the first being it’s a day to catch up and write some more articles for use later in the challenge and the second being Kiva. Because I’m thankful for what the 30DC is offering to everyone for free I’ll helped them out a little bit and tell you about Kiva. Kiva is an organization that helps struggling entrepreneurs in 3rd world countries get loans to start up a business. If you want to hear …
Test Day
Just a short post today as it’s test day! Not the actual real estate licensing test, but the test I must pass in order to “graduate” from my pre-licensing class so I can take the Actual Test. I shouldn’t be nervous, but I just can’t help it. Studying the last few days I realize how much stuff there is to know, 22 chapters of terms, laws, Acts and fines. I’ve never been good at memorizing anything. My brain is better …
30DC – Half Way Update
For anyone following my progression through the 30 day challenge you are probably wondering how my site is fairing in the land of search engines. Up until now it wasn’t really worth reporting any success or failure as it’s been all about setting my site up and creating a network of backlinks in order to increase rankings in Google. We care about all search engines, but Google is the most important because that is by far the most common. If …
30DC – Day 15 – Check This Tool Out!
Half way home! Day 15 was very exciting and it’s definitely going to make life easier for updating twitter, facebook and your blogs. I’ve tested out a few tools that would combine all of those social networking sites but I always went back to using the individual pages to do my posting and reading. Even though I still haven’t found a tool I like to read all the posts, tweets and facebook comments (i currently just use my iPhone) , …
30DC – Day 14 – Weebly and Facebook Pages
Did you know there is another blogging site out there? I didn’t! It’s called Weebly and it’s another blogging platform that 30DC recommends setting up a keyword optimized blog on. They go through how to setup an account and then some of the features on the site, it’s very basic. Again you’ll need a unique article that is optimized with your main keyword and then you’ll just post it to the blog. There are no special tips, just add …
30DC – Day 13 – WordPress.com and Blogger.com
The thirteenth day of the challenge had us create two new blogs. One using WordPress.com and the other at Blogger.com. The object of building these two new blogs is for broaden your exposure and also build some more backlinks from some quality domains. The more the merrier when it comes to getting links to your main site. WordPress.com Pretty much the most popular blogging software on the planet. It has a very easy and simple setup process that takes no …
30DC – Day 12 – Blog Content
So far the Thirty Day Challenge has been focusing on external page rank helpers like writing articles for posting on sites like EzineArticles, Scribd, Squidoo and hubpages in order to improve site visibility and backlinks. On day 12 we turn our attention back to our blogs and start creating content for it. We used Market Samurai to locate other articles (about your keywords and category keywords) to use as resources for articles we write. MS makes this process very easy, …
Real Estate License Practice Exam
I took my real estate license practice exam yesterday and needless to say I’m going to have to study. Because I knew this was only a practice test, I didn’t study over the labor day weekend and instead chose to spend that time with my family. The exam is broken up into two parts between New Jersey laws and regulations and then Federal laws and regs. You need to score a 70% or better on each part to pass. I …
30DC – Day 11 – Squidoo and Hubpages
Day 11 focused more on article publishing but in a bit of a different way using Squidoo and Hubpages. On day 10 we uploaded articles to ezinearticles and scribd, which were straight up article hosting sites. The sites today were about creating fan type pages much like you would in Facebook. I also categorize them as glorified one page website. In Squidoo you create what is called Squidoo Lenses. They define a lens as “…one person’s look at something online. …
Back to School Jitters
For some reason today I woke up feeling a bit overwhelmed and anxious. Maybe it’s because I’m going back to work after another holiday and I don’t want to, or because the summer is over and I feel like I’m starting school…haha I get this feeling from time to time and I like to share it because I know other newbie investors get it as well and I wanted to say it’s normal. What I’ve learned to do is just …
30DC – Day 10 – Article Submission
It’s web 2.0 week in the thirty day challenge! Day 10 was about submitting your articles to ezinearticles.com and scribd.com. We also got some pointers on how to optimize articles for your keywords. Promoting your articles on web 2.0 sites like these is a tremendous way for getting traffic to your site. The reason is that these sites are very well thought of by the Google bots and because of that your articles, on said sites, will naturally rank highly …
30DC – Day 9 – Rank Tracking
Rank tracking was the focus of day 9 in the 30 day challenge. The idea here is to keep track of where your domain and posts/articles rank on google for each of your keywords. This is something fun as you can hopefully watch your site rise in popularity and soon to the first page on Google and other search engines. The trainers used a Market Samurai and it’s Rank Tracker module to quickly and easily find the rankings for you. …
30DC – Day 8 – Getting Traffic
I’m already up to day 8! This is kinda fun if I do tell you the truth. I love this internet marketing stuff. Today we dealt with getting traffic to our websites. For me this has been a daily grind, even getting visitors to this blog. It has taken me over a year to get a steady flow of about 45 visitors a day. There are many ways to get people to come visit your site, but it comes down …
30DC – Day 7 – Statistics
Google Analytics is the tool of the day and a very important one at that. On day 7 of the 30 day challenge went over using Google Analytics, creating an ad using Market Samurai and the pretty links plugin. In my mind, the most important thing when trying to develop a website is knowing the stats. Google Analytics is an awesome free tool that will track TONS of statistics, enough to make you dizzy. Let me list just some of …
30DC – Day 6 – WordPress
WordPress was the theme of day 6. This is the second time where they are using a service/software to help you out. First it was Market Samurai which I found very helpful and might consider purchasing it when the 45 day trial is up, but we’ll see. This time the good people at 30 day challenge recommend using WordPress Direct. WordPress Direct is a service that makes it “easy” for beginners to setup a wordpress site and manage all the …
