This was an awesome day of training and one that can be easily used for all your blogs and sites. As I’ve said on some other days during the training, creating backlinks is very important for your long term Google ranking health. The more quality backlinks you have the higher and more authoritative your website will become in the eye of Google. High Quality Backlinks huh? What exactly are those and how do they differ from other links back to …
30DC – Day 26 – Finding Long Tail Keywords
On day 26 we learn how to use Google Analytics and Market Samurai to obtain some long tail keywords. The reason is that we want to try and expose our blog to the widest range of keywords within our niche that have traffic. There are two types of long tail keywords that we will be using, Long Tail Derivative Keywords and Semantic Long Tail Derivative Keywords. Let me explain the difference… Long Tail Derivative Keywords: These are keywords that contain …
Question: Can You Over Do Goal Setting?
I was reading my good friend Shae’s blog and she had a great post about how she is creating her 100 days left goals. Shae definitely knows what she is doing and if you get the chance you should head on over there and read it (94 Days of Focus to Finish 2009 Strong). Her post got me thinking… Is planning out to many goals or being too detailed a bad thing? And if so where do you draw the …
30DC – Day 25 – Sell Your Blog
So what do you do with the blog if you decide to cut bait? Surprisingly the answer is to sell it! This is one of the great ideas and one that I never thought of going into the 30DC. There are a few sites out there that allow you to flip your blogs, crazy I know! I mean who would buy it right? Apparently there is a pretty big market for selling websites and you can take advantage of it …
30DC – Day 24 – Go or No Go?
Go or No Go Day. On day 24 of the 30DC it is time to analyze your numbers and stats to decide if the niche that was selected is worth pursuing or not. There is no shame in figuring out that the niche you picked is not viable. You have learned so much and the elimination of a niche is almost as valuable as finding one that works. Here are some of the key criteria to consider when figuring to …
30DC – Day 23 – Day Off
We are getting another day off on day 23. It comes at a good time because I need to go back and learn adwords a little bit better and get my quality scores up. If you fall below an a 5 Google gives you a warning. I’m not sure what the warning means, but I don’t like warnings! hahaha. The creators of the Thirty Day Challenge apparently provides a podcast where they discuss what’s new in internet marketing. I’ve never …

30DC – Day 22 – Adwords Content Network
Another aspect of adwords that can be really useful is the Content Network. The content network consists the ads that appear on sites, the ones that say “ads by google”. I’ve got a few of them on this website, but you can see an example below. Anyone can place an Adsense ad unit on their website by just creating an Google Adsense account. After creating an ad campaign there’s an option for picking the type of campaign, Googles Content network …
Even Better the Second Time
Because I passed the first test for my real estate class I did not have to take the retest, but I did any way. I figured it was good practice and I wanted to get myself to study the New Jersey and Federal laws, acts and commissions as I had trouble with those on the first test. My intentions were good, but I failed to really study at all. I tried searching the internet for a list of all those …
30DC – Update – Dropping!
This past week has been a busy one for sure. Spent the early parts studying for my RE license class exam which I passed. When I took the test I like to put a mark next to any questions that I’m not 100% sure about. I like to do that to help me remember, when we review the test during the next class, which ones I had trouble with. Of all the questions I marked, I got about 80% of …
30DC – Day 20 – Ad Groups
A great feature in Google Adwords is the ability to create Ad Groups based on different keywords. Having the different groups makes it easy to split up and track your ads separately depending on keyword. Also within each group you can create different ads that Google will rotate. Having different ads will increase the amount of traffic you get and create a good testing ground to decide which ad works the best for a particular keyword. Ads within an Ad …

30DC – Day 18 – Paid Traffic
Today we went over the ways in which you can get traffic to your website. The truth is there is no free way to get traffic, you have to pay for it in one way or another. You pay by either spending money to use adwords or other pay per click (ppc) service out there or you spend your valuable time building up your sites SEO with article publishing, keyword optimizing and backlink creation. Paying For Traffic You can pay …
30DC – Day 17 – Google Analytics and Pretty Links
The first day of the second half, Day 17, had us analyzing our stats using Google Analytics. The reason is to determine if the website is attracting enough visitors in order to move on. The minimum number of visitors that they suggest you have before moving forward is 100 (umm how about 5?). 100 visitors is needed to really be able to analyze the statistics in a reliable way. If there are too few visitors then the stats can really …
Did I Pass?
I sure did! Managed to get an 83 on the federal section and a 77 on the NJ specific section. I’m not sure what I got wrong just yet as we will be reviewing the test on Thursday. I used the 80/20 method of studying for this test. Since I only needed a 70% I figured why kill myself studying anything that was going to be complicated or take too long to learn. I sured up the info that I …
