Scott CostelloAll, Blog, Internet Marketing 17 Comments

Over this past weekend I passed the 200 visitor mark for my 30 Day Challenge blog, NewJerseyProbate.org.  Since the end of the challenge, about a month ago, I’ve continued to write an article a week and am at about 20 total so far. 12 of them on my blog and the other 8 spread out over different sites like EzineArticles, Scribd.com, hubpages.com and blogspot.com.  I’ve also taken those articles and submitted them to Traffic-Bug.com in order to increase the backlinks.  …

30DC – Day 29 – Learning From Mistakes

Scott CostelloAll, Blog, Internet Marketing 4 Comments

Day 29 is about learning from mistakes, not your mistakes but the mistakes of other people.  The mistakes talked about in this lesson are not technical errors, such as grammar or having trouble publishing an article to EzineArticles.com.  These sort of mistakes are easily correctable and really don’t mean anything disastrous will happen. It’s going to be really tough for me to outline exactly what was said in today’s lesson without writing a book, but take a look at this …

30DC – Day 28 – High Quality BackLinks

Scott CostelloAll, Blog, Internet Marketing 6 Comments

Today I learned about High-Quality Backlinks.  HQ Backlinks are the ultimate goal of any SEO marketer.  The reason for this is that a High Quality, Relevant site holds a lot of clout in Google’s mind. When one of those sites supports your site, with a link, that is like the president of a company recommending one of his employees for a promotion.  Das Good! Outside of scouring the internet for sites with PR’s of 3 or higher, a great way …

Scott CostelloAll, Blog, Internet Marketing 11 Comments

This was an awesome day of training and one that can be easily used for all your blogs and sites.  As I’ve said on some other days during the training, creating backlinks is very important for your long term Google ranking health.  The more quality backlinks you have the higher and more authoritative your website will become in the eye of Google.   High Quality Backlinks huh?  What exactly are those and how do they differ from other links back to …

Let me explain the difference… Long Tail Derivative Keywords: These are keywords that contain …

Scott CostelloAll, Blog, Internet Marketing Leave a Comment

So what do you do with the blog if you decide to cut bait?  Surprisingly the answer is to sell it!  This is one of the great ideas and one that I never thought of going into the 30DC.  There are a few sites out there that allow you to flip your blogs, crazy I know! I mean who would buy it right? Apparently there is a pretty big market for selling websites and you can take advantage of it …

Scott CostelloAll, Blog, Internet Marketing Leave a Comment

Go or No Go Day.  On day 24 of the 30DC it is time to analyze your numbers and stats to decide if the niche that was selected is worth pursuing or not.  There is no shame in figuring out that the niche you picked is not viable.  You have learned so much and the elimination of a niche is almost as valuable as finding one that works. Here are some of the key criteria to consider when figuring to …

30DC – Day 23 – Day Off

Scott CostelloAll, Blog, Internet Marketing 1 Comment

We are getting another day off on day 23.  It comes at a good time because I need to go back and learn adwords a little bit better and get my quality scores up.  If you fall below an a 5 Google gives you a warning.  I’m not sure what the warning means, but I don’t like warnings!  hahaha. The creators of the Thirty Day Challenge apparently provides a podcast where they discuss what’s new in internet marketing.  I’ve never …

30DC – Day 22 – Adwords Content Network

Scott CostelloAll, Blog, Internet Marketing 5 Comments

Another aspect of adwords that can be really useful is the Content Network.  The content network consists the ads that appear on sites, the ones that say “ads by google”.  I’ve got a few of them on this website, but you can see an example below.  Anyone can place an Adsense ad unit on their website by just creating an Google Adsense account. After creating an ad campaign there’s an option for picking the type of campaign, Googles Content network …

30DC – Update – Dropping!

Scott CostelloAll, Blog, Internet Marketing 4 Comments

This past week has been a busy one for sure.  Spent the early parts studying for my RE license class exam which I passed.  When I took the test I like to put a mark next to any questions that I’m not 100% sure about.  I like to do that to help me remember, when we review the test during the next class, which ones I had trouble with.   Of all the questions I marked, I got about 80% of …

30DC – Day 20 – Ad Groups

Scott CostelloAll, Blog, Internet Marketing Leave a Comment

A great feature in Google Adwords is the ability to create Ad Groups based on different keywords.  Having the different groups makes it easy to split up and track your ads separately depending on keyword.  Also within each group you can create different ads that Google will rotate. Having different ads will increase the amount of traffic you get and create a good testing ground to decide which ad works the best for a particular keyword. Ads within an Ad …

Today we went over the ways in which you can get traffic to your website. The truth is there is no free way to get traffic, you have to pay for it in one way or another. You pay by either spending money to use adwords or other pay per click (ppc) service out there or you spend your valuable time building up your sites SEO with article publishing, keyword optimizing and backlink creation.
