Things Unrelated to Investing

This blog is all about my real estate investing endeavors, but from time to time I like to share some other things that are going on in my life.  Doing this helps me connect with you all better and shows that I’m a real person with every day struggles.

Here is a list of things I want to accomplish this year and how I’m going to do it…

1) Lose 10 pounds.

Over the past 2 years  I’ve been go to the gym 3 to 4 times a week and playing basketball 1 to2 times a week and have seen some results but not what I’m looking for.  In total I’ve lost about 5 lbs in the time period and have added some muscle but nothing really noticeable.

I needed to change things up so I ordered P90x Monday night and should be getting it today.  This will be a test in will power for sure, as I will have days were I won’t want to exercise.  I’m going to keep a calendar on here some how to demonstrate that I’ve i’m track.  Hopefully you guys and girls can push me as well.

2) Pay off my wife’s car and only have our mortgage as debt

This is going to happen within the next month when the tax man returns our money.   I’m excited as anything to get to this point.  It has been 3 years in the making.

Every time my wife and I eliminate a debt source, we put the payments we make every month into our ING account.  The account will be used for a down payment on a future home.  We will no be contributing an extra $360 every month to ING!!

3) Create 1 additional Income Stream

I am not sure what this will entail yet, but it might be internet marketing.  I’ve toyed around in the field for a few years with very minor success.  I know it takes a lot of time to get things started so I may not head this route to hard core just yet.

Another idea I have is to start up a hosting site for real estate investors.  I would do all the setup for squeeze pages, blogs, domain names and things of the background variety.  The topper, if I can pull it off, would be to install my Lead management software as a web application for each user.

Those are my ideas for right now, but for sure I want to add one new income stream to my life.

So what are some of your non real estate investing goals for this year?

  1. Scotty, you can totally rock internet marketing. Steph and I were just talking about that the other day. 🙂 I have several non-investing goals, but one of them is to to begin guitar lessons this year and another is to compete in a challenging race (which I’m all set to do in May).

    1. Internet marketing is definitely something I will end up doing, I just wish it didn’t take so long to write all those articles that one needs to rank high. I write slowly LOL

By December I want to hear a recording of your guitar playing!

  2. Hey Scott –
I second the vote for Shae’s guitar playing!!
Just wanted to give you a heads up … Tim Ferriss’s 4 Hour Body has some AWESOME diet tips. It takes awhile until you get used to it but it’s pretty powerful. I bet his eating plan plus P90x will equal six pack. 🙂

  3. Congrats to you, Scott. Being debt free besides your mortgage is awesome.

And I hope you enjoy P90X. I am watching the infomerical now, funny enough. I always toy with getting it or not… Good luck!
    Steph

    1. I’m going to be keeping my progress on the blog so everyone can follow along. I will be starting it on Thursday. I’ve already begin changing my diet to follow the program. 🙂
