For all those people like Shae, Steph, Carry, Jason, Esi and everyone else who’s blog that I regularly read I want to apologize for not stopping by much over the past month. It’s not the I lost interest in your blogs, the opposite is actually the case. I enjoyed reading them so much that it was starting to take away from my time a little to much.
As the days got shorter, as they tend to do this time of year, I realized that I was spending upwards of 2 hours a day reading blogs and real estate forums. Even though that is how I learned most of what I know today about REI, I decided it was time to take a step back and reclaim some of that time.
All totaled, I have 120 blogs in my Google rss reader. Way to many to keep up with on a routine basis. Over this turkey weekend, I am going to trim that down to about 10 of them. Those people I mentioned above will definitely make the cut and a few others.
I’m certain that I will be able to keep up with my friends a bit better after the trimming, because I won’t feel so over whelmed when I open up Google and see 375 unread blog posts waiting for me to read. These days I’ve just been closing that up and moving on to something else.
Sometimes you just have to take control over your time and it may require you to eliminate things that you enjoy doing but aren’t beneficial to your goals.
Have a great Thanksgiving everyone!

Scott,
Smart man. Time is the resource you can’t make more of. Congrats on realizing what most don’t.
Jason
I’ve known it for a while, but the fear of missing something important always kept me from deleting some of them.
I agree with Jason! Happy Thanksgiving, Scotty!
Thanks Shae, hope you had a wonderful thanksgiving as well!
Scott….I’m in the same boat. Haven’t been checking up on all of my friends blogs because I’ve been busy writing this ATM course.
But I agree with Jason as well…….awesome job for realizing what you need to do as far as your time is concerned. I can’t even tell you how many blogs I have in my reader….now grant it, I can’t say that I truly read them all…..the ones you mentioned are my regulars as well (including you) but I hear where you are coming from.
Happy Thanksgiving! Enjoy your time today with your wife and family!
Thanks Carry, are you like me a feel bad when you can’t read some of your friends blogs? There are so many great people who contribute to my site, that I feel I need to contribute to theirs. I want to as well, but sometimes time doesn’t allow it.

I think you nailed it Scott. Sometimes you realize that you are spending too much time reading, studying, planning etc instead of doing.
The real skill is blocking out the information that gets in the way
Yes it is. I am trying hard to narrow my focus, read only those blogs that I love and give me inspiratioon, and those that pertain to my business. I am also trying to rid myself of “shiny object syndrome”. I tend to want to go off in a hundred different directions and try to many things.
Good thinking, Scott. Reminds me of the Four Hour Work Week philosphy, where he talks about giving yourself a break from all that technology. It makes sense!
Hope you had a nice Thanksgiving!
Steph
I read that book about a year ago, and have listened to the audio’s quite a bit. Maybe some of the ideas rubbed off on me finally
