Do You Know About This Great Resource?

I’ll admit that I am probably the last person to jump on this bandwagon, but I recently discovered how great Podcasts are!  Driving to work over the past 12 years, I was forced to listen to a combination of sports talk radio, and morning shows on Z100 or 95.5 WPLJ.  Sure I could listen to political morning shows or straight news shows, but I’d rather get a root canal.

I got to a point in my life where I didn’t want to waste my time filling my head with pointless banter of sports or entertainment shows.  I mean what is the point??  Non of these things are increasing my knowledge and causing me to think about how I can better myself.  I crave learning.

You all know I love me anything Pat Flynn related, sort of a man crush on him.  I want to model my blog after what he has done with  He had been doing his podcast for a few years now, but I never took the time to listen.

Out of desperation for something interesting to listen to on the way to work, I downloaded a Podcast app on my Andriod phone and listened to his first episode.  HOLY CRAP that is some quality shit!  I was hooked.

This was a month ago, and ever since I’ve been listening to his podcast every chance I get.  Driving to work, running on the treadmill or just some downtime at lunch.  In a little over 4 weeks I’ve powered through 56 episodes of pure gold.  I’m a little sad that I only have 30 to go before I catch up to him.

His content is not real estate related but geared towards making money online.  However, the concepts of building relationships, marketing and mindset can be directly brought over to our industry.  I’m not going to go through what he is teach in this post, I just wanted to let everyone know about a great resource…PODCASTS!

I’ve done a little digging and have come up with some highly recommend podcasts that are real estate related as well as some others that are about business and money.  These are the things that interest me these days, well those and Fantasy Football.   I’ve only ever listened to Pat’s podcast but these other ones are next up.

  1. I’ve started doing daily morning hikes, and I’m working my way through the BiggerPockets podcasts while hiking. I’ve also listened to a lot of the Sean Terry podcasts, which are great as well. Now I’ll have to check out some of the others you’ve identified. Thanks for the post!

The shows are a great way to keep your mind thinking outside of the box about your business. Even if you aren’t ready to implement a lot of what you are hearing, the information will be in there for when you are ready to.

Really?? That is crazy. I didn’t know she was a guest till I was looking through the shows after getting a recommendation for that podcast. I was planning on listening to it this Monday on the way to work. I’ll have to write her a personal thankyou!

And thank you joe for mentioning it

  2. Cool list Scott – I didn’t even know about half of these. One of the podcasts I’ve been listening to lately is “The Fizzle Show” (about building an online audience). It’s not really “real estate related”, but you might find it interesting for your blogging efforts… I know it has really helped me a lot with mine.

Just put that on my Podcast list. I’m always looking to learn about and get better at connecting with my audience better. I always am jealous of other blogs where they get tons of comments per post. I know I have some readers and would love to get them more involved.

      Thanks for the suggested podcast!

  3. Hi Scott,
I got to your site from the BP forums,(re; white letters). When I saw podcasts in your title I thought you were talking about the BP ones. I haven’t listened to any others yet. Just learned about Sean Terry the other day, but haven’t had a chance to listen yet. I love the BP podcasts. Since they are from different investors there is a huge range of experience, techniques, perspectives, etc. Thanks for sharing the list of these others I’ll have to check them out. That means I’ll have to bookmark your site. : )

      1. There are several that I really liked. I have more of a rehab-buy/hold state of mind, rather than wholesaling, so my tastes may be a little different. Some of my favorites are, ( in no particular order ) #37 w/ Aaron Mazzrillo Love the “beach in Thailand” idea, plus more…
        #32 w/ Will Barnard
Because he’s Will B. (look around BP, you’ll see what I mean)
        #8 w/ Al Williamson
Just a great attitude about everything
        #5 w/ Neal Frankle
because we love our families, & we’re all going to go sometime
        #3 w/ Brian Burke
        #2 w/ Karen Rittenhouse
This is a good one to help get our wives more onboard. She addresses a lot of concerns that women may have.
Sorry for starting my own blog on your blog,: ), but you asked. Hope this helps.

  4. Hi Scott,

    How’s the baby… growing fast I bet!

Another two for the list that I listen to are “The Real Estate Guys Radio show” (one of the original pod casters and still on Radio), and “Cashflow Diary”, by J Massey.

Oh, and non Real Estate related is a show, that just started one year ago, is John Lee Dumas, “Entrepreneur On Fire”

      Hey Keith!

Ben is doing great, he is already 19 months old and way to big. Favorite part of my day is seeing him when I come home from work though.

I actually had found Entrepreneur On Fire podcast soon after I made this post. I haven’t listened to it yet though. Thanks for the recommendation on the other podcast, it will make a good addition to the list.

I hope to make it up to a meeting sometime soon. It’s tough because I would have to put off doing mailings because wednesdays are my only day I can do that as well.

      Hope you are doing well!
