I’m struggling with how to continue Probate Mondays since I’ve reached the end of Ron Mead’s course. The natural thing to do would be to only write updates on my probate investing on mondays, which is what I think I’m going to do. That way I can have an all inclusive update of the past weeks milestones instead of posting dribs and drabs of it every few days. I like that approach, what do you think?
Foot Surgery Update
I’m about ready to kill someone! Being stuck in my condo for two and a half weeks is giving me a little cabin fever. I’m a pretty active person by nature, but the only thing getting a work out these days are the springs in the couch cushions. Valarie, my wife, is still adjusting to me being home all the time. I tuck myself away in the loftice (Office in the loft, i’m so clever!) to do my 9to5 work, which breaks up my day and keeps me out of my wife’s hair wigs. What I do enjoy very much, is having lunch with her every day. Normally, the weekend, is the only time we see each other so this has been a wonderful bonus.
For those wondering how my foot is doing, it’s coming along nicely. Hopefully I’ll have the pins out on February 4th when I go visit the doctors again. That will be a good day.
Struggling Investor Logo
I found someone on Twitter who is coming up with a logo for my blog. She is only charging me $25 so I figured I’d take a shot and see what she can do. The hard part is I’m not really sure what I’m looking for so describing anything to her just comes across as me being scatter brained. I’m not really sure how picky I should be since she is charging me so little. I will post a picture of what she has come up with when I get it.
This also gives me a good idea for a contest.
Flip This Book of the Month Club (flipthiswholesaler.net)
This months book is Five Major Pieces to the Life Puzzle by Jim Rohn. I would love to say that I’m enjoying this great book, but that would be a lie. The reason being is that I HAVE YET TO RECIEVE THE BOOK SINCE ORDERING IT FROM AMAZON 2 WEEKS AGO. Oh sorry did I yell that? It was shipped on Jan 14th and the amazon website gives me a cable company-esc “expected delivery date of Jan 21st to Feb 5th”. So it could take 3 weeks to delivery a book? that’s crazy. Good thing it’s a short book cause I’m not going to have much time to read it before the book club meets.
Northern New Jersey Real Estate Investor’s Group
In past years of my life, not being able to drive would have gave me the perfect excuse not to go to the REIA meeting next week. It’s a small group of guys and I’d hate to miss a meeting and miss out on getting to know them. So I sent out an email to the entire group asking if I could bum a ride with a willing participant. I was lucky and one nice guy felt bad for me and offered to swing by my place on the way to the meeting. If there were REI badges for getting over a fear, I’d get one haha.
No excuses!

Hey Scott,
Last time I ordered from Amazon, the same thing happened. I actually never got my book, had to file a complaint, and then got my $ back.
This time I ordered with expedited delivery, and ended up getting it on Monday (I ordered on Friday).
It's a really short book, but I'll hold off and do the review on the 2nd Monday of Feb (the 8th). That should give you plenty of time. Unless you never get it, and then that will be a problem…
Have you tried contacting the seller?
Hopefully it doesn't apply in this case, but you get what you pay for. If you were a graphic artist would you charge $25 for a logo!? Perhaps add a zero at the least, right. If I sound like a pessimist ignore everything I just wrote.
But, I think it's a good idea to continue the “Probate Monday” theme. I'm interested in learning more about what's working for you and what isn't. Once this first damn deal closes, I'll need to branch out for acquiring leads. Probates are on the list.
I will be contacting the seller tonight as in the past the book has usually come within 7 business days. Thanks for pushing the discussion back a week, that extra time will help.
I completely agree with you and wasn't expecting much. If anything I'll at least get an idea of where I want to go, or not want to go, with my logo.
Glad to hear that your foot is recovering nicely, Scotty! I definitely think you should continue with the probate Monday theme. It will likely morph into tips and lessons learned from your day to day experiences with these leads.
If you ordered the book through an Amazon 3rd party seller, and not from Amazon directly, they most likely sent it via Media Mail or Parcel Post, which takes forever to arrive. I do, however, have a cool way to get a free trial of Amazon Prime, even if you've had Amazon Prime in the past…nothing like free 2 day shipping! I'll post about it on my blog this weekend. Could come in handy for Steph's book club (which I hope to join, as soon as I get some spare $$ to get some books). Good to hear that you are on the mend, Scott!
